Marnie J. Brooks Steinwand
Licensed Funeral Director

Marnie J. Brooks Steinwand and Dean SteinwandMarnie began working with her father in 1996 caring for the families of the area. She received her mortuary education in Dallas, Texas and also holds a degree from the University of North Dakota. Marnie is married to Dean Steinwand and they have a son, Gavin, and a daughter, Isabella.

She is a former president of the Northern Lights Arts Council, she served as youth leader at United Lutheran Church, served on the board of the Cavalier County Library, the Cavalier County Job Development Board of Directors. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association and serves on the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board.

Dean Steinwand

Originally from the Wales, ND area, Dean is a graduate of Langdon High School and received a Business Degree with a major in Accounting from NDSU. While maintaining a career outside of the funeral home, Dean has taken on an active daily role in the funeral home, primarily handling the shipping, setting and maintenance of granite monuments and markers. He also serves on the Stewardship Committee of the United Lutheran Church.

G. Keith Brooks
Licensed Funeral Director

G. Keith Brooks G. Keith Brooks graduated from LHS in 1960. He attended the University of North Dakota and then went on to Milwaulkee, Wisconsin, where he received his Mortuary Science Education. He was united in marriage to Sandra Lee Pederson, of the Alsen area, in 1964. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He worked for a short time in Grand Forks before joining his father in 1970. Keith and Sandy had two children; Marnie and John. Keith died in 2004

Keith was a past President of the North Dakota Funeral Director’s association; was a long time Cavalier County Memorial Hospital Board Member; member and past commander of the Langdon Legion post No. 98 and in 1977 he was appointed veteran’s service officer for Cavalier County, a position he held for 25 years. He was a member of the United Lutheran Church and has served as President of the church council. He was a member at one time of the Lebanon lodge; Langdon Scottish Rite Bodies; Kem Temple of the Shrine, and the Forty-Niner Shrine Club; Langdon Eagles Aerie 3454 and the Elks.

William J. Brooks
Licensed Funeral Director

William J. BrooksWilliam J. Brooks graduated from Langdon High School in 1964. He attended North Dakota State University in Fargo and graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee, returning to Langdon to join his father in 1968. Bill is married to Darlene Chaput and they have three children: Bill, Teri and Bridget, and seven grandchildren. Bill and Darlene purchased Quality Printing in 1979. Bill continues to be a licensed funeral director and helps out when needed.

Bill is President of the Board of Directors of Maple Manor Care Center, a Past Master of Lebanon Lodge, Past President of the Forty Niner Shrine Club and a 33° Scottish Rite Mason. He and his wife are active members of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Bill served on the Langdon Fire Department for 20 years, 15 years as Secretary/Treasurer.

 

George K. Brooks

George K. BrooksGeorge received his mortuary education from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was married to Wilma Harris of Cavalier, North Dakota. George died in 1990 and Wilma in 1980. They had four children: John Brooks, Lanetta Brooks Wilhelmi, G. Keith Brooks and William Brooks.

George was active in the Masons, served as the Chairman of the Cavalier County OPA Board, Chairman of the Langdon City School Board, president of the Langdon City Special School district board, president of the Commercial Club, member of the ND Funeral Directors Association.

Two of George’s children attended mortuary school and joined the family business as well.
