Shawn Kalis, 32, of Osnabrock, ND passed away March 30, 2008.
Shawn was born April 28, 1975 at Robinsdale, MN to Richard and Ramona (Sanders) Kalis. He attended Riverview Elementary and Jackson Jr. High both in Brooklyn Park, MN, Anoka Sr. High in Anoka, MN and was a member of the first graduating class of the new Champlin Park High School. While in school, Shawn was in hockey, baseball, played the saxophone and loved skate boarding. Many good times were had fishing at the family lake cabin in Wisconsin where summer weekends and vacations were spent. Shawn enjoyed ice fishing as well, not letting the cold weather get in the way of a good catch. Shawn went on to take computer classes at Hennepin Tech. He worked for AAA Piano Moving and Manny’s Piano Moving (where he encountered a neck injury). In 2006 Shawn relocated to Osnabrock, ND. Shawn was a Nascar racing fan and was an avid hunter. This last year was one of the best deer hunts in years. Shawn truly loved his two dogs, Ceaser and Cleopatra.
Shawn is survived by his parents Richard and Mona Kalis of Osnabrock, ND, brother Kim Kalis of Minneapolis, MN, nephew Brett Newell of Austin, MN, girlfriend Rhonda Broome of Osnabrock, ND, maternal grandmother Olga Sanders of Walhalla, aunts and uncles: Sandra and Nick Nichols of Chandler, AZ; Lorraine and Walter Rude of Langdon, ND; Rodney Kalis of Langdon, ND; Robert Kalis of East Grand Forks, ND; Charly Kalis of Grand Forks, ND; Patricia and Larry Graveline of Grand Forks, ND, cousins: Timothy Nichols, Daniel Nichols, Jerrod Kalis, Jason Kalis, Darrin Schill, Damus Schill, Kory Kalis, Chad Kalis, Randy Rude, Lisa Hodge, Vicki Brossart, and Renee Larson.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Philip Sanders and paternal grandparents Theodore and Angeline Kalis, aunts and uncles Liz and Neil Schill, Angie Kalis and cousin Kody Kalis.
SERVICES will be held Thursday April 3, 2008 at 2:00 O ‘clock at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND with visitation for one hour before the time of the services.
