Peter Schill, 96, of Saint Peter, MN and previously of Mt. Carmel, ND passed away March 19, 2008 at St. Peter.
Peter J. Schill was born March 15, 1912, in Dresden Township, North Dakota to Valentine Schill and Mathilda Koehmstedt Schill.
Peter married Loretta Hoffarth on June 9, 1942, in Mt. Carmel, North Dakota. They farmed in Mt Carmel before moving to Munich where they continued farming for 19 years. Peter was employed at the Warwick Public School for 10 years and the Rugby library for 19 years. After retiring he moved to Williston then to LeCenter, MN. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Rugby.
Peter loved to farm and had a great admiration for his horses, grand dogs and grand cats. He enjoyed traveling, collecting John Deere toys, telling stories about his early childhood days, telling jokes, watching the Minnesota Twins games, and collecting various memorabilia. Peter was also an excellent carpenter.
Peter is survived by his seven children, Dale and (Joanne) Schill of Pearl River, LA; Shirley and (Jim) Margerum of Fountain Hills, AZ; Char and (Randy) Ely of Jordan, MN; Claire and (Theresa) Schill of Sorrento, FL; Kevin and (Pam) Schill of Bush, LA; Kraig and (Peggy) Schill of Williston; Kaye Schill of LeCenter, MN. Peter has 6 grandchildren, Lori Ondrish of Wake Forest, NC; Tami Margerum of Tucson, AZ; Terri Dundar of Slidell, LA; Tonya Betancourt of Ragley, LA; Nichole Schill of Shakopee, MN; Kattie Schill of Williston; Sara Peterson of Williston; and Adam Kirkland of Bush, LA; 4 great grandchildren, Alexis, Sarah, Kaya, and Adan; 2 brothers, Stanley (Eileen) Schill of Langdon, and Joe and (Margaret) Schill also of Langdon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 5 brothers.
He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held Thursday March 27, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND
SERVICES will be held Friday March 28, 2008 at 11:00am at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church of Mt. Carmel, ND.
