Jessie Westphal

Jessie Westphal, 90, of the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon and formerly of Munich, ND passed away Monday March 5, 2007 at Maple Manor.

Jessie McLean was born August 16, 1916 at Sarles, ND to John and Lillian (Lily) (Naismith) McLean.  She grew up in Moscow Township, Cavalier County. She attended school in Moscow Township and later in Langdon.

Jessie was united in marriage to Gustav Westphal on January 21, 1937 at the Presbyterian Manse in Langdon, ND.  They lived and farmed in Moscow Township until 1938 when they moved to a farm in Huron Township, Cavalier County.  In 1975 they moved into Munich.  Gustav and Jessie were both active in their community and Church, the Munich Senior Citizens and bowled in leagues in Langdon and Munich.  Jessie was also a member of Homemaker, Hobby, Garden and Birthday Clubs and the Knights of Pythias Ladies Lodge.  Gustav passed away September 17, 1995.  Jessie continued to make her home in Munich, doing yard work, embroidery work, traveling and spending time with friends in the winter.  She moved to Parkwood Place in Grand Forks September of 2004 and there she served on the Welcoming Committee and was active in the Red Hat Society

Jessie is survived by her daughter Frances (Robert) Lebrun of Langdon and son James of Mesa, AZ, Eight Grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Hilda McLean of St. Paul, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gustav, her parents, sisters and brothers; Gertie White, Edna Welsh, James McLean, John McLean, Donald (Dan) McLean, Marjorie (Margie) Mountain, Finley McLean, and Lily Henderson.

VISITATION  Will take place on Thursday March 8, 2007 from 4pm to 8pm at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.  Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Friday.

SERVICES  Friday March 9, 2007 at 3:00pm at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon.

BURIAL  Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Maple Manor Building Fund or the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital.
