Ila Murie

Ila L. Murie, 87, of Langdon, ND died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Maple Manor Care Center, Langdon.

Ila Romfo was born October 25, 1919 to Ole O. and Asta (Kjenerude) Romfo near Vang, ND.  She attended schools in the Vang area and worked at several cafes in Walhalla, ND.  She attended beautician school in Fargo, ND after which she operated a beauty salon in Walhalla with her sister Gertrude.  Andrew L. (Bud) Murie and Ila were united in marriage on June 9, 1942 at Vang.  Following their marriage they lived and farmed in Harvey Township, Cavalier County, until 1993 when they moved to Langdon.

Ila was an active member of the Stillwell Community Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, United Methodist Church, Langdon, Lebanon Chapter Order of Eastern Star, North Dakota Cowbells (women's auxiliary of the ND Stockman's Association) for which she organized the first state beef cook-off.  Ila began singing as a young girl in church and continued her love for music her entire life.

She is survived by her husband, Bud; two sons, Orlin Murie, Camino Island, WA and Larry (Helen) Murie, Langdon; grandchildren, Vicki (Darrel) Wrege, Orly Murie, Tammy (Tim) Aronson, Tina (Jamie) Bryn, Teri Murie and Troy Murie; nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Ann Marie (Michael) Davis, Vancouver, WA and Gertrude Bevins, Florida.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Odney Romfo and Glenn Romfo and her sister Ruby Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 2:00 at the United Methodist Church in Langdon with burial at Harvey Centre Cemetery of rural Langdon. Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon, at 2:00 o'clock Monday with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service and also for one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.


Condolences:

I was a friend of your son, Orly, for many years and he held his mother in the highest regard. She was the one that he measured ALL women against. From what I know of Ila she was a great woman and she raised two fine sons. I was very sad to hear of your loss.
