Elaine Koehmstedt

Elaine Koehmstedt, 85, of Langdon, ND passed away Saturday November 24, 2007 at Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon.

Elaine Peterson was born February 19, 1922 at Mona, ND, the oldest child of John M. and Helga (Aasen) Peterson.  She graduated from Langdon High School in 1940 and went on to successfully write the Teachers Exam.  She taught in country schools for seven and a half years, in the Mt. Carmel, Wales, and Dresden, ND area .  She was united in marriage to Walter Micheal Koehmstedt on June 20, 1945 at Langdon, ND.  They lived on a farm near Dresden during their first year of marriage and in June of 1946 moved to a farm near Wales where they spent 15 years.  They bought an acreage west of Langdon in 1959 and made that their home.  In her later years, Elaine worked at the Farm Bureau/Nodak Office.  She was a member of the United Lutheran Church and was the first president of Border Homemakers Club.  Elaine also dedicated her time as a local 4-H leader for many years.

She is survived by her siblings: Gerald Peterson of Langdon, ND; Ione Beauchamp of East Grand Forks, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, brothers John and Virgil. And sister Eunice Mutscher.

VISITATION  Will begin at 5pm Tuesday with a 7 pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES  Wednesday November 28 at 11:00am at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND.

INTERMENT  Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, ND

We are so sorry to hear of Elaine's death. Mom and I had a very nice visit with Elaine the last time we were in Langdon.
