Arnold Loewen
Arnold “Arnie” Loewen

Arnold “Arnie” Loewen, 72, of Langdon, ND passed away Thursday April 26, 2007 at the Deaconess Health Center of Northwood, ND.

Arnold Abe Loewen was born October 20, 1934 to Abraham (Abe) and Katie (Krahn) Loewen in Gordon Township, Cavalier County.  He attended school in Gordon Township and went on to farm there.  Arnie also kept busy by driving Ambulance and school bus for many years.  Arnie did not have a family of his own, but the kids and coaches he drove were his family.  Many players were the recipient of his generosity, from new uniforms, to bus trips to state, or a five dollar bill for the player who didn’t have any money when they stopped to eat supper. He had a love of high school sports and knew where every high school in the area was.  He logged many miles, often with his brothers, driving groups, not only locally, but on longer trips to places like Denver and New Orleans, and also did many transfers of new buses.  After farming from the time he was a boy, Arnie retired about 6 years ago, but was still active in the farm up until last year when his health started to decline.

Arnie is survived by his siblings:  Kenneth (Marlys) Loewen, Alsen, ND; Dennis (Annette) Loewen, Langdon, ND; Charlotte (Neil) Olson, Detroit Lakes, MN; Audrey (Edward) Doyle, Amenia, ND, brother-in-law Duane Heck of Langdon, ND,  numerous nieces and nephews and a special aunt, Rose Fadenrecht of Salem, OR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois Heck and five infant siblings.
