Joseph Klemisch

Joseph Klemisch, 79, of Langdon, ND, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

 

Joe was born in Langdon, ND, on August 19, 1931 to William and Theresa (Clodt) Klemisch.  He graduated school in Langdon.  Following graduation he entered the Air Force and fought in the Korean War.  He later attended State School of Science in Wahpeton, graduating with a Journalism degree.

 

On September 20, 1954 Joe married Arlene Hilfer in Harvey, ND.  Following college they made Langdon their home.  Together they raised seven children.

 

Joe spent 40 years working for the Cavalier County Republican in Langdon.  In addition to his career, he was active in the city commission for many years, head of the Sanitation Department and founded the Transfer Station.  He was a past president of the winterization program, board member of North Central Planning Council, member of the Zoning Commission, member of the Housing Association, member of the American Legion and the Eagles.  He served 10 years as a Reserve Deputy for the Sherriff’s office.  He was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

 

He is survived by his wife Arlene of 56 years, and children: Debbie (Ron) Hazer of West Fargo, ND; Judy (Bob) Davis of Ridgefield, WA; Rita of Lubbock, TX; Janice of Devils Lake, ND; Joann of Langdon, ND; Alan (Robin) of Chaska, MN; Rick (Abby) of Souix Falls, SD, 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Patrick (Retta) of Apple Valley, MN and sister Audrey (Bennett) Spenst of Langdon, ND.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ted, Bob, and Jim, sisters Catherine Chaput, Nancy Boldt, Lucille Gamache and Margaret Swanson.

 

VISITATION will begin at 3:00 pm Tuesday, September 7, 2010, with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

 

SERVICES will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at 2:00 pm, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.

 

INTERMENT  Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND
