Diane M. Olson

Diane was born on May 17th, 1946 in Langdon, ND to Olin and Ethel Olson. She was raised on her parents farm north of Langdon, attending Hope #1 Township School through 8th grade and then attending Langdon Public High School graduating in 1964. In that same year, Diane united in marriage with Gene Brown of Hannah at the Big Pembina Lutheran Church. Diane and Gene went on to make their home and raise their family in Hannah.

Diane lived and worked in numerous places in North Dakota. Her exceptional interpersonal skills and adaptability allowed for various employments- working at Arto’s Supper Club, Anamoose School System, JC Penney in Harvey, VFW and American Legion in Grafton, established a Putt Putt Golf and Paddle Boat business in Cavalier, and established a painting business.

Diane resided in Easby, east of Langdon and worked at The Hop as manager until illness prohibited further employment. She then moved to the family farm and resided there until her death.

Diane was a woman of great kindness, initiative, and creativity. She was happiest when her family, children, and grandchildren were by her side.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Olin and Ethel Olson. She will be deeply missed by her children, Stephanie Brown and Mick (Erica) Brown and grandchildren Courtnie & Cassidy, Max & Kayla of Langdon and Hannah, sisters- Candice (Stephen) Norman of Rockledge, FL; Susan (Michael) Waldoch of Harvey, ND; Peggy Olson of Cavalier, ND; Brenda Utke of Mounds View, MN; Miriam Olson of Plymouth, MN; Rebecca Olson of Green Valley, MN;  Melissa (Anthony) Huotte of Grand Forks, ND,  eleven nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.

Diane M. Olson, resident of Langdon, ND, made her journey to heaven on Friday, January 29th, surrounded by family members at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital at the age of 63.

VISITATION will take place Friday, February 5, 2010 starting at 6pm with a 7pm Prayer Service all at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon.  Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of services at the church on Saturday.

My deepest condolences to all of the Olson family.  This I know, Olin and Ethel raised some of the most amazing and kind women I have had the privilege of meeting.  There is perhaps nothing more joyful or rapturous than listening to the laughter at a table of Olson sisters.  May you all find that laughter through your tears.
