Vivian June Paulson was born January 10, 1928 at Milton, ND to Herman and Laufey (Bergman) Paulson.  She grew up and received her education in Milton.  Vivian and Marcus Evans were united in marriage on June 11, 1946.  They made their home on the Evans Farm and became the parents of four children.  They farmed until his death in 1971.  Vivian married Marvin Otto Hoel on January 8, 1974 and they made their home in Langdon.  Vivian loved to garden and it seemed anything she put in the ground would grow.  She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, eating out at restaurants and especially SHOPPING!  At home she loved to cook and bake and treasured time spent with her grandchildren.  Vivian was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Langdon and was active in Eastern Star.  She enjoyed curling and bowling and spent many hours volunteering at both the Maple Manor Care Center and the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

Vivian is survived by her husband Otto of Langdon, children: Dr. Richard M. (Katherine) Evans of Lincoln, NE; Randy (Olivia) Evans of Langdon, ND; Craig (Sharon) Evans of Lewisville, TX; Pam Evans, R.N. of Burnsville, MN, Grandchildren include Randy’s sons: Marcus (Karmen) and Grant; Craig’s daughters Amanda and Kathryn; Pam’s children Michael Albright and Hannah Albright, two great-grandchildren: Emma and Ellie Evans.   Vivian is survived by her brother Robert (Marilyn) Paulson of Milton, ND,  five step-children; Stephanie, Cheryl, Christine, Marty and Cindy and 45 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marcus, brothers Percy, Lloyd, Harlan and William and two step-sons: Keith and Robert Hoel.

VISITATION will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 3pm to 5pm with a 5pm Prayer Service all at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.  Visitation will also take place for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Monday.

Paulie's family,

My heart goes out to you all - Paulie has always been a part of my life -from early years in church and later as Grandpa's neighbor and for the last 28 years as Mom and Dad's neighbor - what fun they had sharing backyards, coffee, etc. Paulie was always there to greet us with a smile and a hug - I will miss her. Sending you thoughts and prayers.

Susan (Saxlund) Lutz

The hour of departure has arrived for Vivian and we go our ways; she to die , and we to live. Which is better? Only really God knows. However when a good woman and mother dies, for years the light she leaves behind her, lies on the paths of family and friends. I think Lord Bryon the British poet said it best, "For the sword outwears its sheath, and the soul wears out the breast. And the heart must pause to breathe, and love itself have rest. Those to whom we say farewell, are welcomed by others already at rest. To those left behind families and friends I give my sincere sympathy.

My memories are many, and if I let myself I could remember all day..from sad times to happy times to one Easter making some wooden eggs/modge podging/separating pretty napkins and ending with glitter..what fun we had doing them..Thank you for sharing your Mom with me..It was a pure delight being part of her life.. And so...we journey on in life..quickly becoming the "older generation" don't we?

My love and prayers to you all.

Betty Fetzer

Paullie's family:

I have so many wonderful memories of spending time at your house, growing up. Paullie cooking and Pam and I watching "color" tv or driving the go-cart. She was forever feeding me, probably cause I knew enough to show up at suppertime. My heart and prayers go out to all of you. She was a wonderful neighbor, and "surragote" mom. She will be greatly missed.

Linda (Padden) Brusseau
