I was sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Syl. While home last summer I had a chance to sit and visit with him out on his front patio. Mom and Dad and I appreciated the fruit and the visits that he brought to us while Dad was sick with pneumonia. I will miss seeing him on my visit to Langdon this summer. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Metzger Family,
I was sorry to hear of your Dad's death. I have fond memories of my time spent at your house. I am also pleased that your Dad made the Honor Flight for all of his years of service to our country. Thinking of all of you at a difficult time.
Love, Danette, Dave, Drew, Paige and Luke Pengilly
My deepest sympathy to all of the Metzgers. I always liked uncle Syl and really had an admiration for him for being a good uncle and brother-in-law to my dad. I'll always remember him coming to our house when I was little when he, Dad, Uncle Art, and Uncle Les would get their instruments out and play for hours just because they enjoyed it so much and each other's company.
It wasn't until I got older that I realized that he was much more than just an uncle. I learned of his incredible bravery and valiant service in World War II and the sacrifices he made so that all of us could be free. Having survived Normandy beach and The Battle of the Bulge says something about a person. He was much more than a man, a father, an uncle, a grandfather, great grandfather... He was truly a Hero, and I'll always be very proud to say that he was my uncle.
Rest in Peace Uncle Syl.
Joe Kartes
