Shirley Doherty

Shirley Doherty, 84, of Langdon, ND passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon.

 

Shirley was born March 22, 1926 at Norfolk, NE to Fred A. and Fae (Jones) Rohrenbach.  She was raised and educated in Wahpeton, ND.  Shirley went on to graduate from  St. Alexius College of Nursing in Bismarck, ND.  She was united in marriage to Howard Doherty on June 14, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck, ND.  They lived in Killdeer, ND and then moved and made their home in Dickinson from 1959 to 1969.  In 1969, they moved to Langdon.

 

Shirley is survived by her children: Kevin, Craig, Kathy, Sheila, Tim, Peggy, Colleen and their families which include 11 grandchildren and siblings: Bobbie, Brian and Dianne and their families. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, her parents, step-mother Olive, granddaughter Amber, grandson Ian and sister Connie.

 

Visitation will be held Friday, October 29, 2010 beginning at 5:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Rosary and Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.  Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the services at the church.

 

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.

 

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.

 


Condolences:

We are so sorry to hear about Shirley's passing. She was a lovely woman, and she will be sorely missed. We will send in a Mass dedication for the Sunday TV Mass. Wishing you all peace at this difficult time.

We have such wonderful memories of Howard, Shirley and their family. We were a part of each other's lives for so many years.  I always admired Shirley and thought what a beautiful woman she was.  Butch and I would babysit the family in Dickinson when they would go out of town for conventions etc.  I regret that we have not seen Shirley and family for a number of years.  We never get to Langdon. We are living in Dickinson and would so enjoy any of the family stopping in to see us.

I have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel, and Shirley always made me feel special. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, friendship leaves a memory no one can steal.

Many good Memories of Shirley will remain with me always until it is time for us to meet again.
