Milton Thoren, 81, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Park Rapids, MN passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND

 

Milton Mathew Thoren was born October 30, 1927 in Ely, MN to Hilma Wilhelmia (Luomanmaki) and Gunnar Hjalmer Thoren.  He grew up and attended school in Ely, MN.  He was united in marriage to Margaret Marie Deyak on September 17, 1948.  He graduated from the Dunwoody Institute of Minneapolis in Drawing and Architectural Drafting in May of 1950.   He served in the United States Army during WWII, serving in Okinawa as a gunner.  Upon his honorable discharge he lived in Minneapolis where he worked as a master carpenter.  He later lived at Ely, MN and had spent nearly 20 years in Park Rapids before moving to Langdon recently.  He enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and teaching them how to fish, and enjoy the outdoors and woodworking.

 

Milton is survived by his wife Margaret of Langdon, ND, daughter, Connie (Alan) Herrud of Langdon, ND; son, Jerry (Gerry) Thoren of Ely, MN; daughter, Sue (Mick) Danisch of North Oaks, MN and son, Larry (Lynne) Thoren of Vancouver Island, BC Canada, grandchildren: Matthew (Amanda) Herrud, Andrew (Fiance Jen) Herrud, Christopher Danisch, Tamara Danisch, Jennifer Thoren, Cheryl Thoren, great-grandchildren: Reese, Cali, and Parker, and a sister Beverly Younce of Indiana.

SERVICES  will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday Sept. 12, 2009 at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND

I'm sorry to hear Uncle Milt has passed away. My prayers go out to the Thoren family, relatives and friends. I have fond memories spending time with Uncle Milt as a child and young adult. He took me fishing, taught me how to use a sauna, and when I was old enough we shared a few beers.   Robert Zbasnik
