Helen Metzger
 

          Helen Loreth was born July 8, 1926 at Mt. Carmel, ND to Frank and Elizabeth (Stremick) Loreth.  She grew up in the area and attended rural schools.  Helen and Nestor Metzger were united in marriage on July 2, 1945.  They made their home in Langdon and were a part of the business community with Nestor’s TV and Appliance Store.  They retired after 39 years in 1985.  Helen was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters, The American Legion Auxiliary, and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.  Helen loved Bingo and pinochle.  She enjoyed collecting antiques and dolls.  She was an avid gardener of all things including peonies.  Helen especially enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren.

            Helen is survived by children: Larry (Luella) Metzger of Center, ND; Lee (Verna) Metzger of West Fargo, ND; Glenn (Patricia) Metzger of Fargo; Ronald (Judy Lightowler) of Perham, MN; Gene (Carol) Metzger of Beulah, ND; Sharon (Danny) Livingood of Langdon, ND; Daryl (Shelly) Metzger of Hazen, ND; Lanette (Jay) Schmaltz of Rugby, ND; Carla (Trent) Johnson of Frisco, TX, 27 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brothers: Stanley, Raymond and Victor, sisters Judy Illerbrunn, Minnie Metzger, Vivian Veer, Florence Cota and Edna Waslaski along with numerous nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Nestor, infant daughter Beverly, grandson Cody LivingGood, brothers Frank Jr., John, William, Bernard, Charles, sisters Rose Reuger, Stella Pederson.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND.

Visitation will be Friday, February 12 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Saturday. A Prayer Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church on Friday evening.

Interment will be in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery in Langdon, ND
