Marjorie L. Olson

Marjorie Olson, 82, of Langdon, ND, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012, at her home in Langdon.

Marjorie Louise Welsh was born January 1, 1930, to Ralph and Ruby (Rinehart) Welsh at their home in  Harvey Township, Cavalier County, ND.  She graduated from Langdon High School in the class of 1948 and went on to Valley City State University.  Marjorie taught in Clyde and rural Langdon for five years.  She was united in marriage to Ole L.E. Olson on December 28, 1952 at Langdon, ND and they became the loving parents of five children.  She worked at Maple Manor in the early 1980’s.  Marjorie became a rural mail carrier in 1982, which she continued, later along with Ole, until 2006.  Marjorie was a dedicated wife of 59 years and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a 50 year member of the Stilwell Homemaker’s Club and was a member of the United Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA. Over the years, Marjorie was active in 4-H and was able to travel to Washington, D.C.  Marjorie loved animals and enjoyed riding horses.  She was a tomboy and loved to work on the machinery and in the fields with her father.  She planted many flowers in her years.  Marjorie wasn’t born a Norwegian, but she became one, a very good one, through osmosis.  She was an excellent cook and baker, winning many awards and ribbons over the years.   She loved to mow the grass with her John Deere Tractor.  She liked knitting and was a talented seamstress.

Marjorie is survived by her husband: Ole of Langdon; children: Mary (Daniel) Lobato of Windsor, CO, Nancy (Wayne) Coyle of Langdon, ND, Linda (Donald) Heyd of LaMoure, ND, Laura (Michael) Bisenius of Grand Forks, ND, Curtis Olson of Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Carrie (Jeremiah) Miller, Chad (Kristina) Coyle, Lisa Lobato, Sara (Chris) Duplex, Daniel J. (Victoria) Lobato, Jamie Coyle, Matthew Bisenius, Becky Heyd, David Bisenius, Michelle Bisenius, Andrea Bisenius; seven great-grandchildren; brother:  James R. (Addie) Welsh of Las Vegas, NV; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with a very special pet, Miss Kitty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ruby Welsh.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be directed to Cavalier County Memorial Hospital or United Lutheran Church.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of my Aunt Margie.  I was always impressed with her giving and joyful spirit and wonderful sense of humor.  I have fond memories of my summer trips to Langdon.  We had enjoyable backyard picnics and trips to the park and the old farmstead.  Our deepest condolences to Uncle Ole and all the cousins.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.  We are sure that she has found rest and comfort now.

Loved this lady with all my heart. Remember her lining us up on the your back steps and handing out the best cookies I've ever eaten.  Always a smile and giggle.  My love thoughts and prayers to you all.

Colleen (Emblom) Reid

One of the "moms" to all of us kids growing up in the old neighborhood... home-made bread, shelling fresh garden peas on her back step, giggling with Nancy at sleep-overs until Marge came in.."Now girls, what can possibly be so funny?" Her laugh was pure fun, her hugs the best! Can't imagine how much she will be missed. I love you all and you are in my heart and prayers.

Much love, Donna Howe

My deepest sympathy to the Olson family.  Her son Curtis and  I were high school classmates, and have been friends for many years.  He always spoke very kindly of his mother as I could always tell he had a special place for her in his heart.  She will be greatly missed, but now she is in God's special place and enjoying all the peace and happiness that comes with it.

I will always remember Margie coming out for supper at Maida with her wonderful friendly smile and nice visits while I worked there! Thoughts and prayers to Ole and family.

Thinking of Margie's family at this time, my deepest sympathy.  I loved having sleepovers at Nancy's house! Margie and Ole were a lot of fun, even when Nancy and I were misbehaving (mostly Nancy). Margie always made people feel so welcome.  She will be deeply missed.

Brenda Utke

Dear Ole and family,

Many pleasant memories flow when I think of Margie.  Since we were across the street neighbors for many years we watched your family grow and mature.  Margie always had her infectious smile and giggle.  She left some good legacies and I am certain some special memories. Our love and sympathy.

John and Joann Lawrenc

Were so sorry about your loss. God saw Marjorie getting weary, So he did what he thought best: He came and stood beside her and whispered, "Come Home and rest" How lucky she is!!  God's promise is that you'll see her again  in heaven.

Lawrence & Brenda Lobato

I went to high school with Curtis and always remember her giggle. She was always sweet and smiling. I remember delivering chickens to her when I was a little girl. She was always so appreciative. I'm confident she'll still be smiling down on us, especially her family.

Mary Delvo

To Ole and family,    Marge and Ole were my classmates and what a wonderful couple. Cannot ever remember anything negative at any time. They will always be with me. Had the good fortune of visiting them about four years ago. God bless.

Don Soli

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. May the words in 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 give you hope and comfort.
