Margaret Lee

Margaret Alice Lee entered her heavenly home on Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Good Shepard Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids, MN.

Margaret was born on April 12, 1919 to Cooper and Isabel Giles on their family farm west of Langdon, ND.  She married Francis Lee on October 5, 1938 on her parent’s farm near Langdon. Francis and Margaret later farmed the same farm until they moved to Langdon to help their daughter and son-in-law, Isabel and Ron Fischer, in the Bread Pan Bakery.

Margaret was always very active. She was known for years as the Tupperware lady, conducting Tupperware parties over the 4 county area, sometimes 3 and 4 in a day. She knew everyone.  She was very active in Our Savior’s Episcopal Church in Langdon serving as treasurer for many years.

She and her husband Francis moved to Fargo ND in 1993 to be closer to family and doctors. Francis passed away later in that same year.

Margaret then started her journey of volunteering. She volunteered at MeritCare Hospital, working in the intensive care family rooms.  When she decided she needed more to do, she started volunteering at the Ed Clapp Park Senior Center and worked there until last September when she had a heart attack and had to retire. She was 90 years old and was still volunteering 5 days a week. She recorded over 20,000 volunteer hours. She moved to Sauk Rapids last June to be closer to her daughter, Isabel.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Isabel and Ron Fischer of Sartell, MN, granddaughters Dawn (Wes) Denn of Richmond, MN and Kris (Norm) Olson of West Fargo, ND, great-grandsons Michael and Steven Olson of West Fargo, ND and 5 nieces and nephews.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Francis, her parents, 2 brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, George and Ruby Lee and Charles and Florence Lee, and 2 nephews.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon on Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Services will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Langdon.

Nurses Aid from Meritcare- Kevin Estenson

Hi---I am a nurse at MeritCare (now Sandford).  I remember Margaret very well as she spent many hours volunteering at our organization.  She was always positive and smiling as she interacted with staff and family members.  The last time I saw her she was going out the south entrance of the hospital.  As we visited she mentioned some health issues she was dealing with---but, as above, positive and smiling!  She is missed!
