Donald 'Mac' Machacek

Donald “Mac” Machacek, 77, of Langdon, ND passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon, ND.

Mac was born September 3, 1931 at Dresden, ND to Charles J. and Mary (Berger) Machacek.  He attended school at Dresden and went on to graduate high school from St. Alphonsus in Langdon, ND.  In 1951 Mac entered the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1953. After his service Mac married Betsy Hallgrimson at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND on October 19, 1957.  The couple then resided in Devils Lake, ND for a short time before moving to the family farm near Dresden in 1958. 

Mac was a member of the American Legion, Elks Club, and the Eagles Club.  He was involved with the American Legion Baseball for a number of years.

Mac is survived by his wife, Betsy, children: Mary Dawn (Bill) Perius of Carrington, ND, Nancy (Jerry) Ratzlaff of Devils Lake, ND, Jeff (Pam) Machacek of Peoria, IL, Charlene (Joe) Binfet of Kent, WA, Jerry (Shelly) Machacek of Cologne, MN, John (Jeanine) of Fargo, ND; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings:  Madeline Rohde of Langdon, Florence Davidson of Langdon, Mary (Tom) Mann of Langdon, Charles (Elaine) Machacek of Mesa, AZ, Lucille Domres of Mesa, AZ, Theresa Jurek of Duluth, MN, Jim (Marsha) Machacek of Pine River, MN as well as several nieces and nephews.He was preceded by his parents, infant son Joseph, and sister Lorraine Illerbrunn.

VISITATION will be held at the Brooks Funeral Home from 2-4pm and at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 6-7 pm in Langdon, ND on Friday, April 3, 2009.  Visitation will also be one hour prior to service.

PRAYER SERVICE will be held at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND at 7pm on Friday April 3, 2009.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 11 am on Saturday, April 4, 2009.
