Leola J. Tollefson Giles

     Leola Tollefson Giles, 79, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Mobridge, SD.

     Leola Jean Schulz was born April 3, 1931 to Henry and Melvina Schulz at Walhalla, ND. They moved to a farm southwest of Osnabrock, ND in the spring of 1941. Leola graduated from Osnabrock High School in 1949 as valedictorian of her class.  Leola married Ordean Tollefson at Langdon, ND on November 1, 1949. They farmed for 30 years south of Osnabrock. He passed away in May of 1979.  Leola married Joseph Giles on March 28, 1982 and continued to live on the farm at Osnabrock.  Joseph passed away in August of 1991.

     Leola’s life-long passion was her faith in the Lord and her family – children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved music and enjoyed crocheting, drawing, and creating greeting cards. Her family and friends enjoyed receiving her beautiful homemade cards throughout the years.

Leola was preceded in death by her parents, brother Herbert Schulz, and sister Gladys Kempf, both husbands, two nephews, and one step-son.

     Celebrating her life through memories are her three children: Larry D. (Debbie) Tollefson of Selby, SD, Loren D. (Judy) Tollefson of Walhalla, ND and Lori D. Clark of Walhalla, ND; seven grandchildren: Ryan (Michelle) Tollefson of Brainerd, MN, Chad ( Jamie) Tollefson of Cavalier, ND, Rachel (Michael) Froelich of Hazen, ND, Amanda (John) Frampus of Burr Oaks, KS, Angela Tillman of Centreville, VA, Teddy Clark of Fargo, ND, and Caitlin Clark of Fargo, ND; and eight great-grandchildren: Davin Haseleu, Meagan Tollefson, Bailey Froelich, Allisyn Tollefson, Brayden Tollefson, Josiah Frampus, Brian Tollefson, and Robby Froelich; four step-children: Terry (Nikki) Giles of Henryville, UT, Joanne (Jim) Otto of East Grand Forks, MN, David (Lori) Giles of Fargo, ND, and Deana (Darin) Kruger of Sioux Falls, SD; nine step-grandchildren: J.D. (Joseph Daryl) (Lindsay) Giles, Shawnda (John) Schroeder, Angie (Michael) Perry, Nikki (Rick) Kohering, Tyson Giles, Tessa (Tim) Nelson, Logan McKenzie, Cooper McKenzie, and Brock Kruger; and two step-great-grandchildren: Owen and Tatum Giles.

     Leola will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Dovre Lutheran Church in Osnabrock, ND. Visitation will take place one hour before the funeral service on Saturday.

Interment will take place on Saturday at the Golberg Cemetery of rural Osnabrock, ND.


Condolences:

My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. I remember going to Leola's house with my mom and visiting and Lori showing my how to play the piano. I was a little girl then, playing at the farm it was alot of good memories. She will be greatly missed.

My mom's name is Diane Christianson and my grandma's name was Gladys Kempf.
