Judd Harold Dew

Judd Harold Dew, 80, of Wales, ND, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at his family centennial farm near Wales, ND where he was born 80 years ago, which was his wish.

Judd was born October 11, 1930 on his mother’s 34th birthday to Matt J. and Ida Mae Weiner Dew on the farm in the same house he has lived in most of his life.  Judd spent his entire life in the Wales area, except when he was in the US Army serving in Korea from 1956-1958 and two winters spent in Wisconsin.

Judd worked for neighbors at a very young age driving horses in their farming operations, his favorite thing to do.  Judd left high school in Wales where he attended, to take over managing the family farm after his father’s health failed in 1949.  His parents continued to live on the farm with him.  Judd also worked off the farm and farmed land for others.  In April 1986, he had an auction sale and rented the farmland to neighbors.  He continued to live on the farm and worked for other farmers.  Judd traveled to many area parades with his teams of horses and for many years provided Santa and the children of the Wales area with a sleigh ride at Christmas time.  On April 8, 1995, Judd married Ann Friesen from Altona, and they split their time between the farm where Judd worked for neighbors and Canada where Anne worked.

Judd is survived by his wife Ann, sister Pearl Budde of Pomona, CA, brother Kenneth Dew of Lancaster, MN, numerous nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Matthew and Ida Mae; sisters: Beulah Mowbray, Fannie Valentine, Dorothy Dew, Evelyn Dew; and brothers: Matthew John “Jack” Dew and Gerald Dew.

SERVICES will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND.
