Joyce Sando

Joyce Sando, 81, of Minot, ND and formerly of Hannah, ND, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Trinity Homes in Minot.

Joyce M. Brignall was born May 20, 1929 to  Howard and Olga (Sand) Brignall in Langdon, ND. She attended school and graduated from Hannah High School.  On June 14, 1947, Joyce was united in marriage to Earl Sando in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Hannah. After 20 years as the Postmaster in Hannah, Joyce retired in 1991.

Joyce was very active in the Hannah community and participated in many local organizations.  She enjoyed doing various crafts, especially crocheting.  Joyce had a talent for writing poetry and wrote “Saga of a Small Café” which was so popular it became a newsletter for many years. Joyce moved to Langdon in 1995 and then to Minot in 2001.

Joyce is survived by five children: Kim (Patti) Sando of Langdon, Kurt (Rosemary) Sando of Langdon, Kermit (Debbie) Sando of Kathleen, GA, Holly (Mike) Keaveny of Minot, and Silvia (Michael Diehl) Sando of Gillette, WY; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister: Shirley (Milton) Mattson of Galax, VA; and one brother: Arvid “Butch” (Della) Brignall of Jamestown, ND.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Brooks FUneral Home of Langdon.  Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of services at the church on Thursday.

Interment will be at the Hannah Cemetery at a later date.
