Josephine Gapp

Josephine Gapp, 86, of Langdon, ND passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Josephine Elizabeth Kram was born on February 20, 1925 in Dresden to Jacob and Lena (Stremich) Kram.  She grew up and attended school in the Wales area.  On October 28, 1946 Josephine married Bernard Fischer. They made their home in Neche, ND for a short time and then moved to Blackduck, MN where they ran the Red Owl store.  In the early 1950’s, Josephine and Bernie moved to Langdon.  Bernie passed away in September of 1961.  Josephine married Leo Gapp in January of 1967 and continued to live in Langdon. Leo passed away in May of 1986.

Josephine loved sewing, reading, gardening and flowers- especially African violets. She did a lot of crafts and was known for the Christmas ornaments she would give her family each year. Holiday gatherings were treasured memories as there was always a houseful of people. Josephine and Leo really enjoyed camping and did a lot of fishing too.  Josephine was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and involved in many church activities including choir and attending to the flowers and plants in the church. She was a member of Catholic Daughters and Fellowship Bible Study.

Josephine is survived by her children: Larry (Anna) Fischer of West Fargo, ND, LaRae (Frank) Metzger of Fargo, ND, Marilyn (Robert) Aldridge of Summerfield, NC, Mark (Karen) Fischer of Elizabeth, CO, LeeAnne Gapp Miller of Winchester Canal, OH, Linda Gapp (Bill) Nowatzki of Edinburg, ND, Kenneth Gapp of Langdon, ND, and Donald Gapp of Grand Forks, ND; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother: Jacob (Judy) Kram of Langdon, ND; several sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Bernard and Leo; brothers: Anton, John, Edward, George, Leo, Rudy, Percy; and a sister: Ann Gapp.

 

Services for Josephine will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND. 

Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 12 from 3-5:00 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation will also take place for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery - Langdon
