Gerald Barker

Gerald “Jerry” Barker, 68, of Devils Lake, ND, and formerly of Calvin, ND, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.

Gerald Richard Barker was born May 6, 1943, to Richard “Dick” and Verbena “Pat” (Klein) Barker at Langdon, ND. He was raised and educated in Hannah, ND, and attended Mayville State College.  Gerald served in the Army and was stationed in Korea.  On April 12, 1969, he was united in marriage to Sheila Enns in Manitou, Manitoba, Canada. They raised their two sons, Terry and Brett, in Calvin, ND. Gerald farmed in the Calvin area and also owned and operated a trucking business. Health issues prompted Gerald to move to Devils Lake in 2010. On August 20, 2011, he suffered a stroke which necessitated his move to Maple Manor.

Jerry is survived by his son: Brett Barker of Cando, ND; his brother: Dennis (Kay) Barker of St. Thomas, ND; and nieces and nephew: Robin (Terry) Peterson of Portland, OR, Daniel (Veronica) MIrehouse of Battle Ground, OR, Stephanie (Brent) Baldwin of St. Thomas, ND, and Kyle Barker of Orlando, FL.

Preceding him in death are his son: Terry Barker; parents: Richard and Verbena Barker; and his sister: Joan (Barker) Mirehouse.

 

Visitation will take place on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 5 to 7pm at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.  Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the service at the church on Saturday.

 

SERVICES  Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10:30am at the Calvin Presbyterian Church of Calvin, ND with the Reverend Adrian Olson officiating.

 

INTERMENT  Corinthian Cemetery of Calvin, ND


Condolences:

Pete has been part of my life my whole life and will still be a part of my fond memories for great laughs and a sharp wit.  He is part of my family and I miss him. I am sending good thoughts to his Brother Dennis and family as I know Pete thought the world of all of them.
