Gene Brown, 68 a long time Hannah resident, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 in Florida.

 

Donald Gene Brown was born on Feb. 20,1941 in Ione, Washington to Victor & Pearl Brown.
He was raised & educated in Hannah N.D., where he graduated from Hannah High School. He attended college at the State School of Science in Wahpeton N.D. achieving a degree in auto body in 1959. He also attended Northwestern College in St. Paul M.N. & took classes in computer & accounting at UND-Lake Region College in Devils Lake N.D. Gene married Diane Marie Olson on July 18, 1964 & had two children: Mickey Gene(Hannah) & Stephanie Diane (Langdon). They divorced in 1974.  Gene farmed the family farm with his dad (victor) & brother (Dean) & also ran an excavating business. He remarried Brenda Bermes in the early eighties at Cross Roads Range. He had two stepdaughters Liebe & Joy. Gene then started wintering in Florida & later became a permanent resident of Daytona Beach Florida where on Dec. 6, 2009 he lost his fight with Alzheimer’s disease. Gene is survived by his wife Brenda of Florida, children Mick Brown of Hannah & Stephanie Brown of Langdon, two step children Liebe & Joy both of Florida, grandchildren; twins Courtnie & Cassidy Cook (Stephanie) Max & Kayla Brown (Mick & Erika) & his brother Dean (Carolyn) Brown

SERVICES will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND at 2:00pm

So sorry to hear about Gene. His parents were neighbors of mine when they lived in Hannah.  Know that he is free of any pain or illness and at peace now.  Praying for all of you at this difficult time.

I am sorry for your loss. I will always remember how nice of a person he was...and also how honest. I worked for him cleaning his house a few times as a kid and wrote down my hours in a notebook. I forgot about it, but to my suprise, he came across it about a year later and paid me! He was a great guy.
