A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Genevieve Borho, age 68, of DeFuniak Springs, FL on Tuesday, June 2nd at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. George Dukart officiating.

Interment of the cremains will be at St. Edward's Catholic Church Cemetery of Nekoma, ND.  Honorary pallbearers shall be all of her family and friends.  She died on Saturday morning, May 23rd, 2009 at her home.

Genevieve Dukart Borho was born in New England, ND, on August 29, 1940, to Jacob and Katherine (Urlacher) Dukart.  She attended St. Mary's School in New England until 7th grade, after which she attended a one-room school house at Pettibone, ND.  She graduated from Shanley High School in 1958, and received her B.A. degree from St. Teresa's College in Winona, MN.  Her teaching career took her to many of the Fargo, Langdon, and New Rockford schools in ND, followed by three years in West Plains, MO, and DeFuniak Springs and Paxton, FL, until she retired in 2005.  On June 12, 1970, she married Norbert Borho at St. Mary's Cathedral in Fargo, ND.  They farmed outside of Nekoma until moving to MO in 1984, and then to FL in 1987.  They traveled extensively through out the years, including the Scandinavian countries, the Netherlands, and Germany.  Gen also traveled on her own to South Korea to visit daughter Suzanne (Suzie) and with her daughter, Beth Ann, and family to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, different parts of CA, and to New York.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, reading, and walking amidst God’s beauty.  Gen was a member of St. Edward's Altar Society in Nekoma, ND, and at St. Margaret's in DeFuniak Springs, FL, she served as a parish council member, lector, choir director, and a Eucharistic Minister at the Federal Prison north of DFS.  She was very dedicated to the God's Child Project, which helps the poor in Guatemala, El Salvador, Africa, and the U.S.

Gen is survived by her 102 year-old mother, Katherine; husband, Norbert Borho, age 82, two daughters, and one son.  The daughters are Beth Ann (Javier) Rosario, currently serving in the Air Force and based in Germany, Suzanne Marie Borho living and teaching in South Korea, and Todd of San Diego, CA, soon to marry and take up residence in Nicaragua.  Her surviving siblings are Fr. George Dukart of Bismarck, ND; Mary Ann Timm of South Dakota, and Betty Mack of Nekoma, ND.  She was predeceased by her dad, Jacob Dukart, her youngest sister, Luella Mack, an older brother, Steven, an older sister, Anna Mary, who died in infancy, and three nephews, Kenneth Mack, Little Joe Mack, and Dean Timm.

Clary Glenn Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs and Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND were in charge of arrangements.

The family would like to thank (not mentioning any names for fear of missing someone) all the people and organizations for their prayers, cards, calls, visits, and all around support for Gen and for us these last four months of her life.  Thanks so much.

Norbert and Family,
My heartfelt condolences at the loss of a dear, dear woman and my beautiful friend, Gen! We taught together at Ryan High School in 1969-70 in Minot, ND, immediately became buddies and stayed in touch ever since. That was my first year teaching, right across the hallway from Gen, and she taught me the ropes, oh-so-gently, that first year. We used to get together after school and had a habit of telling tales from our day, often collapsing in laughter at each other's classroom antics. The students loved Gen...as did I. Such a beautiful, loving, unassuming, genuine person. Gen couldn't be pretentious, if her very life depended on it. She was so real, so thoughtful, so much fun.....and able to find beauty and joy in the tiniest detail of life. I will always remember Gen, as a wonderful, wonderful woman who could teach us all a great deal about living the good life. May she rest in peace in the arms of Jesus. I will miss her dearly.
