Evelyn Charbonneau

Evelyn Charbonneau, 82, of Langdon, ND, passed away July 19, 2011 at her home in Langdon.

Evelyn was born December 2, 1928, at Mt. Carmel, ND to Alphonse and Lillian “Lillie” (Coyle) Hell. She was raised and educated in the Mt. Carmel area. Evelyn met Donald Charbonneau at an Olga Dance, and they were married January 2, 1950 at Mt. Carmel. They spent their first year farming for John Stremick and then moved to the Mt. Carmel area where they lived and farmed with Evelyn’s uncle, Charles Hell. They raised six children. They moved to Langdon in 1979.

Evelyn and Don enjoyed fishing; she was a member of the Altar Society at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and later at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon. Evelyn was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Maple Manor Auxiliary. She was a home maker and loved quilting, crocheting, tending her flowers and canning her own produce. Evelyn thrived through visits of family and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Donald; children: Paul (Pat) Charbonneau of Mendon, MA, Terry (Barbara) Charbonneau of Anchorage, AK, Sherry Ludwig of Fort Dodge, IA, Danny (Carol) Charbonneau of Seattle, WA, Donna (Jim) Vondal of Cando, ND, Todd (Jeanne) Charbonneau of Colorado Springs, CO; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings: Willis (Lynn) Hell of Seattle, WA, Dorothy Wisdom of Seattle, WA, Lewellyn “Pete” (Bonnie) Hell of Langdon, ND, Robert Hell of Mt. Carmel, ND and Gary Hell of Seattle, WA along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Leslie and sister Della Kartes.

VISITATION will take place on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 3pm to 5pm at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

PRAYER SERVICE: Friday, July 22, 2011, at 7:00pm at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES: Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 10:30am at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon.

 INTERMENT:  Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND

We were sorry to hear that Evie passed away. She and Don are more than just neighbors, they are family. All of you will be in our prayers. We will miss her terribly. We will have an intention sent in to the TV Mass in honor of our beloved Evie.

Our prayers go out to you Uncle Don and family.  She was such a blessing to us all.  She is now with her mother and my mother in heaven along with all the angles.  She is out of pain and at peace now.

It was years ago but Evelyn and her siblings and parents lived straight north of where I grew up.  I have fond memories of them.  Likewise of Evelyn and Don when I'd be back visiting in Langdon.  She was always so friendly and truly a wonderful, special lady.  My sympathy to Don and all the family.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Aunt Evelyn was a very special person and I enjoyed our visit in Washington so long ago. How time does fly and soon we will all be united once again. I am sorry for the loss of Aunt Evelyn.  All of her close friends, family, and husband  will miss her so very much and are in my prayers.

Just a few minutes ago I, found out that Evelyn, has passed on, so sorry she was a nice person, we worked togather over 60 years ago at the St Charles Hotel in PierreSO.Dak. Sorry to hear so late of your loss- Evelyn was my 1st Grade Teacher in Tongue River No. 1. She also stayed at house during the week. She was my favorite teacher of all! Sorry to have lost contact, but I think of her every so often.
