Evelyn Bachel

Evelyn Bachel, 93, of Grand Forks and formerly of Nekoma, ND, passed away July 19, 2011, at Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND.

Evelyn was born April 19, 1918, in Nekoma, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Bachel.  She graduated from Nekoma High School in 1936.  Evelyn worked for a short time for the S.S. Kresge stores in Minneapolis and California.  She returned to Nekoma and became a vital part of the operation of the Bachel family farm.  She moved into Nekoma in 1977 and to Woodside Village in November 2009.

Evelyn's family, friends and church were the center of her life.  She was the “family baker”, and everyone enjoyed her homemade donuts and frosted cut-out sugar cookies.  Evelyn loved the outdoors, working in her vegetable garden and flower garden.  Whenever we see a butterfly, we will think of her.

Left to mourn her passing are her sister: Ann (Ed) Jochim of Souix Falls, SD; nieces: Veronica (Harold) Wilde of Grand Forks, ND, Lori (David) Stangeland of Sioux Falls, SD; nephews: Mike (Loretta) Jochim of Pierre, SD, Mark Jochim of Grand Forks, ND, Pat Jochim of Rochester, MN, Steve Jochim of Souix Falls, SD, and Jay (Lanette) Schmaltz of Rugby, ND; 10 grandnieces and nephews; and 9 great-grandnieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Helen and Rosina; and brothers: Joseph, Peter, Lawrence, Raymond Lender, Raymond John, Richard, Anthony, Ambrose and Sylvester.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 24, 2011, from 5 to 7pm with a 7pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES will be Monday, July 25, 2011, at St. Edward's Catholic Church of Nekoma at 11:00 a.m.

INTERMENT  St. Edward’s Cemetery, Nekoma, ND.
