Donna Witzel, 86, of Langdon and Formerly of Maida, ND, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Donna Faye Meyer was born april 19, 1923 at Randolph, Nebraska to Herman and Ella (Kruger) Meyer .  She grew up in Randolph, graduated from Randolph High School in 1940 and taught in a rural school in Pierce County for two years.  She married Bob Caldwell shortly thereafter and they had three children and later divorced.  She was married for a brief time to Dick VanOwen and one child was born of that union; they later divorced.  In 1963 she married Clifford Witzel of Langdon, ND.

An avid gardner and a wonderful homemaker, Donna loved to cook and do canniing of all types.  She was well known for her beautiful flower gardens and vegetable garden.  She loved to dance, was very creative with her stitchery, and was an excellent artist.  She also liked to travel, play cards, and especially enjoyed the Caribbean Cruise with Aunt Phyllis.

She is suvived by her husband of 46 years, Clifford Witzel; four children: Bob Caldwell, Jr., Mike Caldwell, Cherie Robertson, and Rick VanOwen.  Donna Faye was the oldest of eleven children and is suvived by Virginia Cromwell of Norfolk, NE, Darrell (Gerry) Meyer of Berthold, ND, Bob (Velma) Meyer of Randolph, NE, Jeannette Cook of Boisie, Idaho, Gladys Gubbels of Randolph, NE, Marilyn (John) Carlstrom of Fremont, NE, Bill (Pat) Meyer of Fairfield, ND, Jerry (Carol) Meyer of Gooding, ID, and Judy (Greg) Reed of Omaha, NE.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Donna Faye was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Lois (Meyer) Schnoor. 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Maple Manor for the wonderful care of our wife and sister.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Maple Manor Care Center, 1116 9th Ave., Langdon, ND 58249 in Donna Faye's name.

SERVICES will be held Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:00am at the Maple Manor Care Center Chapel, Langdon, ND.


Condolences:

Clifford and extended families.  My deepest sympathy goes out to each of you on the passing of your dear loved one.  Death is always hard to face but do know with family and friends the hard times seem to be lifted somewhat.  Donna is now resting in the loving arms of God with no more pain but everlasting joy.  May the good Lord bless you all.
