Betty Muhs

 

Betty Muhs, 82, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Dresden, ND passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

Betty was born February 15, 1929 at Dresden, ND to Lou and Ann M. (Bata) Jakoubek. She began her schooling in Dresden and graduated from St. Alphonsus Catholic High School in 1946 after which she attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis, MN for a time. Betty was united in marriage to Francis A. Muhs on October 27, 1948 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dresden, ND.  They made their home near Dresden where they farmed and raised their family. They were members of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Dresden and later the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND. 

Betty made wedding cakes, sewed, made clothing for her family including tailored suits, and loved to knit.   She enjoyed photography and at one time developed her own pictures in her at-home dark room.  She was active in the family farming operation and was known for her large garden, hard work and good cooking.  She also worked for a time at the Cavalier County Republican newspaper. 

 

Betty is survived by her children: Joanne (Rodger) Fewell of Langdon, ND, Jeannette Schefter of Langdon, ND, Randy Muhs of Langdon, ND, Lance (Trina) Muhs of Langdon, ND; grandchildren: Brian Fewell of Minneapolis, MN, Jason (Teresa) Fewell of Manhattan, KS, Jeff Fewell of Langdon, ND, Nichole Schefter (Rick Rostvet) of Langdon, ND, Kirsten (Chad) Gendron of Langdon, ND, Philomena, Maria, Sarah, and Ethan Muhs of Langdon, ND; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings: Agnes Biewer, MaryAnn Geisen,  Dorothy Jakoubek, and Wally Jakoubek.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents,  husband Francis, son-in-law Bill Schefter and grandson Clint Schefter.

 

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service.

 

SERVICES will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.  at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.

 

INTERMENT  Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at the loss of your Mother and my aunt. I remember a lot of memories about her espically her special homemade popcorn balls every Halloween. Ken mentions it alot how one time we were home went to visit them your Mom answered the door looked at me like you are you than looked up and said Ken.
