Barbara VanAckeren

     Barbara VanAckeren, 72, of Mohall, ND and formerly of Langdon, ND passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society in Mohall.

 

     Barbara Jean Wirt was born December 23, 1938 near Langdon, ND to Charles and Josephine (Wilhelmi) Wirt. She attended St. Alphonsus School for 12 years, graduating in 1956. She then attended St. Michael’s School of Radiologic Technology in Grand Forks, graduating in 1958. She worked as an x-ray technician until she married Robert VanAckeren on October 17, 1959 in Langdon.  He preceded her in death on May 26, 1996. They farmed for many years, moving into Langdon in 1974. Barbara worked at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital and Antiques and Collectibles for many years.  She moved to Fargo in 1996 and worked at Herbergers. She moved to Mohall, ND in 2004. Barbara belonged to St. Alphonsus Church and Altar Society of Langdon, ND most of her life.

     Barbara is survived by her children: Robert VanAckeren(Cindie) of St. Cloud, MN, Tracy Waslaski(Douglas) of Gilbert, AZ, and Jodi Guenthner(Scott) of Mohall, ND; nine grandchildren: Kendra and Kelsey VanAckeren, Taylor, Justin, Hunter, and Carson Waslaski, and Riley, Trinity, and Sydney Guenthner; one sister: Mary Ann Hall of Langdon; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; her mother and father; sisters: Dorothy, Lillian, and Agnes; brothers: Victor, Roland, Jerry, and John; a nephew: Terry Wirt; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

 

SERVICES will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.

 

Visitation will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2 with a 7:00 prayer service at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND. Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of services on Monday at the church.

 

Interment: Calvary Cemetery of Langdon, ND

Sorry to hear about the passing of Barb.  She loved and enjoyed you all very much. We had many fun times with your Mom and Dad.  We will keep those memories close to heart.

It's with the heaviest of heart that I just found out that my dear friend has passed on.  Robert, Tracy, and Jodi, there are no words to comfort you at a time like this and my heart is broken that you must endure the heartache of losing your mom. Barb was such a wonderful and kind person that I've missed for several years. She was a joy to work with and I can't believe she's gone.  Please find peace in that she has joined your dad now and you have two very special angels watching over you and your families.
