Arnold Lundeby, 94 , of Osnabrock, ND passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center of Osnabrock, ND.
Arnold was born November 24, 1915 to Henry and Janetta (Baker) Lundeby on their farm one mile west of Osnabrock. He attended school in Osnabrock. He lived in the Osnabrock area all his life with the exception of six years when he worked for the Farmers Union Oil Company of Langdon. He was a truck driver delivering gas and oil during the years 1935 through 1940.
In 1941 Arnold began farming with his father. He moved to Osnabrock with his parents in 1945 when they purchased the former Leon Nelson residence. He continued farming with his father until Henry retired in 1956. He then farmed with his brothers, Marvin and Curtis, until 1968 when Curtis began farming for himself. Arnold and Marvin farmed together until 1976, at which time Arnold retired. He remembered well the years of drought and grasshoppers in the early 30’s. Both crop yields and grain prices were very poor, and there was very little feed for the livestock.
Arnold and Margaret G. Pederson were married on July 24, 1970 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Valley City, ND. Arnold served as Township Supervisor for many years and worked part-time for the Cavalier County ASCS in Langdon for a few years. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge No.22 of Osnabrock. He served in all offices including Chancellor Commander and was secretary for 12 years. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of the Knights of Pythias of North Dakota and was Grand Chancellor in 1969 for one year. He held all other offices except secretary and financial secretary. He served as Supreme Lodge Representative for North Dakota. Arnold was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 48 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Langdon, ND. He was a member of the Osnabrock area Historical Book Committee. Arnold was a member of Dovre Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He enjoyed spending time driving around the countryside, watching the crops mature and watching the machinery work.
Arnold is survived by his wife Margaret, step-sons: Lyle, Wayne (Shannon), Ronald (Connie) Pederson, siblings: Kenneth (Phyllis) Lundeby; Evelyn Rude; Vivian Johnson; Adelene Kepler; Eileen (Bill) Fahnlander; Marvin (Jeannette) Lundeby; Curt (Pat) Lundeby along with numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

I love the moments we spent together at every Holiday, Birthday, Easter, Thanksgiving along with every Sunday you and Grandma come to visit Dad and Mom (Lyle and Karen). Not to mention all of your grand-kids and great-grand-kids celebrations of births and birthdays etc. I will whole heartedly miss our family holidays and get-togethers.
Grandpa, most of all, I will cherish our "I Love You" exchanges PLUS squeezing your cold ears still to this day with you always reminiscing and telling the story of me as a little girl standing in between you and Grandma in the pickup driving around while making your ear sore from my little fingers and nails.
Grandpa, now that you are gone the only thing that makes me content is that I knew you heard me when I said Goodbye and kissed you. I will forever hold that close to my heart with all the other memories from the past decades of years in our family.
Love You GRANDPA,
Jill and Dawson
