Alice Doescher

Alice Doescher, 92, of Langdon, ND, passed away July 24, 2011, at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Alice was born July 1, 1919, to Hjalmer and Ida (Johanson) Lundquist at the family farm between Loma and Alsen, ND.  She attended the Gordon Township School and worked on the farm.  She met her husband, George W. Doescher, in Langdon, ND, and was married September 14, 1938.  She then began her life on the farm and started a family.

While raising her family, Alice worked at several other places:  the Durum Diner as a cook, she and her husband managed the curling rink in Alsen, she worked at Graham’s Bakery and at several Langdon hotels.  Alice loved to dance and sing and enjoyed country music.  She also loved John Wayne movies.  Fall, winter, Christmas and birthdays were among her favorites.  She had a lot of fun wherever she went.  Her smile, honesty and passion acquired her a lot of friends, and she will be deeply missed.  Alice’s motto was:  Life isn’t worth living, if you don’t LIVE!  The best of the best was Alice’s family- she bragged us up all the time.  She loved all of us no matter what the circumstance.

Alice is survived by her children:  Douglas (Ginger) Doescher of Auburn, WA, James Doescher of Langdon, ND,  Brad Doescher of Langdon, ND, Linda (Merle “Pinky”) Padden of Hawley, MN, Steve Doescher of Canton, OH; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: George; and siblings:  Thure, Willard, Helgi Lundquist, and Hildur Ertmann.

VISITATION will take place on Monday, August 1, 2011, beginning at 5pm with a 7pm Prayer Service all at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at 1:00 O’Clock at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND.

INTERMENT Loma Cemetery, Loma ND.
