Aldea Peterson, 102, passed away July 21, 2011, at the Maple Manor Care Cenmter, Langdon, ND, where she had resided for five and a half years.
Aldea Gendreau was born at Popular Grove, ND, to Mary Julie “Jennie” and Samuel P. Gendreau. She lived on the homestead farm until 1918 when the family moved to Walhalla. She attended Walhalla High School. In 1927, she married Alfred Peterson from Vang, ND. Five children were born to them- Marcel, Wenzel, Anna Jean, Ronald and Janice. They farmed there until 1942, at which time they moved to Langdon, ND and farmed until Alfred retired in 1971. Upon retirement they moved from the farm into Langdon and spent their winters in Arizona.
Aldea is survived by a son: Ronald (Marie) Peterson of Langdon, ND; a daughter: Janice (Jim) LeMay of Chandler, AZ; daughters-in-law: Amy Peterson of Langdon and Inez Riverside of Iron Mountain, Michigan; 16 grandchildren: Arlen (Pam) Peterson of Devils Lake, ND, Lynn (Jennifer) Peterson of Langdon, ND, Jay (Susan) Peterson of Devils Lake, ND, Karla (Fred) Brauer of Livermore, CA, Kim (Roger) Otto of Langdon, ND, Brian LeMay of Chenhu, China, Carmen (Bill) Davenport of Chandler, AZ, Heather McCollum of Yuma, AZ, Kelly (Karen) Peterson of Simi Valley, CA, Kenny (Vicky) Peterson of Grand Forks, ND, Keith (Pam) Peterson of Crystal, ND, Kevin (Barb) Peterson of Grafton, ND, Pam Stewart of Lomita, CA, Holly (Charlie) Moen of Adams, ND, Forest (Glenda) Peterson of Mena, AR, Gene (Gayle) Peterson of Lake Orion, MI; 36 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Alfred; three children: Anna Jean, Wenzel, and Marcel; her parents; nine brothers and sisters; and two great -grandchildren.
SERVICES will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church of Langdon, ND with Iva Wenzel officiating. Visitation will take place for one hour before the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.
Interment will be held at the Vang Cemetery, Vang, ND.
